Desinging a better world
Through all his travels, eduction and diverse work background, Jonathan has found one common thread. That life is much better lived when the system we put in place as a society serve people fully. Weather its a small town in Peru that uses passive ran catchment to water ancient fields, or a permaculture farm in Sonoma that generates its own sustenance from the things it grows for the people that live there. When political, cultural and societal system obey nature and open themselves to the ease of life feeding itself, everything gets easier.

Jonathan is a licensed acupuncturist and Functional Medicine Practitioner. He has studied and practiced Holistic Medicine since 2009, having worked with Vasant Lad, Michael Tierra, DeAnna Batdorff, Hugh Milne, to name a few. And in all these years of study and practice in herbalism, bodywork and functional medicine he has found that there are very common ailments that seem to arise not from the individual but from the structures and societal Norms that we hold in modern American culture.

This led him to create, with others the company known as Soft Medicine Sanctuary in 2022 as a rebuttal to covid isolationism, the business instead aimed to bring the town and its people back together for solid multigenerational organic fun. The cafe serves his blend of Ayurveda meets west county coast cuisine in a fully organic farm-to-table fashion.

The cafe has done well and is already spawning offshoot companies around the globe, with the desire to have 15 nested locations by 2028.

But back in Sonoma County, Jonathan has set his sights on other things, making Sebastopol more livable and vibrant for future generations. He created the HUB Sebastopol in 2023 as an attempt to connect different factions of the town into a common goal of livability of the town. This group is currently working to rezone part of downtown into a permanent park that would 5x the size of the downtown square and make the whole town more walkable and enjoyable for families and tourists alike.

He hopes this project can launch him into bigger things within the world of local and state politics. Engendering a more earth focused view of community and city/county/state design.
